Duck Water Fertilizer

Let's talk natural fertilizer. A lot of you have heard that chicken manure is great to use as a fertilizer or in a compost pile. The painful part about chicken manure is that it is too "hot" and must cure for about 60 days before adding to the garden. What an inconvenience! You may have time for that but I sure don't. Alternatively, duck manure is just as nutritious for your flowers, food gardens, and yard, but does not need time to cure!

Duck manure is water soluble making it easy to apply to plants. Below is a picture of my front and back yard. The birds are contained to the back yard where the sprinkler system washes the manure into the soil. Yes, this does mean that every evening when my sprinklers turn on they wash away all the duck poop from the day. Amazing I know! So the sprinklers wash the duck poop away and into the soil. Since the manure is ready to use fertilizer, the yard soaks in those nutrient with their daily water.

The top picture is the backyard that gets duck manure and the bottom picture does not. These pictures were taken on the same day at the same time. They both get the same exact amount of water (thanks to having auto underground sprinklers) Neither have had any chemicals on them in three years. (Yes I do know the dandelions are taking over, that is purely lack of time).

So that covers yards but what about my garden and indoor plants?

I will start answering that question with the fact that ducks LOVE water. My ducks get two big kiddie pools and a smaller tubs to swim, play and bathe in. This water gets changed daily and you still cant see the bottom of the pool. This filthy water is your plants dream water! Just simply water inside plants with this water instead or when emptying the pools, pour the water on your garden!

If ducks aren't for you but you want to try this please contact me, I always have surplus manure at the homestead!
